Drawing for Beginners
4 week online course
This class will give you the basic drawing skills needed to create your own masterpiece! You will learn drawing techniques in a simple, clear way so you’ll be equipped to create drawings of your very own.

August 10 – Lines, shapes, shading, and textures.
August 17 – Perspective and proportion.
August 24 – Simple still life techniques.
August 31 – Drawing from a photograph.
Supplies:
- 9 x 12 or larger sketch book
- Prismacolor Ebony pencil (or any brand of drawing pencil)
- Pencil sharpener
- Eraser

Expressive Abstracts for Beginners
3 week online course
Develop a love of abstracts through various mixed media art techniques. This course is developed over three weeks to allow time for practice and exploration between sessions.
Fridays 3:30 – 5pm

Instructor: Jennifer Evans

Class Focuses:
August 7 – Mark-Making, discuss abstract art. Experiment with marks and line work using a variety of tools and supplies. Think beyond the brush.
August 14 – Movement and composition. Using simple shapes and pattern, learn how to infuse your art with energy and motion.
August 24 – Color. Discuss using color as a focal point, and how to develop an interesting palette for an abstract.
Develop several sketches for the final project and use all of your favorite techniques and experiments from the previous sessions to bring the final abstract to life!
Supplies:
- Watercolor, Mixed Media or Bristol Paper (9″x12″ cold press 140 lb. Watercolor paper by Canson or Strathmore)
- Acrylic Paint
- Paintbrushes
- Water-soluble pencils, pastels or crayons
- Handful of copy paper for sketching and practicing
- Canvas or wood panel for final project (Week 3)
- Water for rinsing brushes
- Paper towel or rag for blotting brushes
